History- Projectile machine are introduced in 1952 by the sulzer .

11. The width of  330 cm to 540cm is possible.

12 . It produced the fabric with higher production rate, efficiency and higher labour productivity.

13. There is a saving space.

14. Single colour or multicolour  weft  up to 6 yarn .

15. Picking and receiving end are separated from moving  sley .hence less weight on beat-up mechanism.

16. The weight  of the projectile about 40 gm made for fine steel having a 90 mm length ,14 mm width  and 6 mm thickness .

17 . Weft drawn directly from large stationary  cross on a package

18. Pirn winding is eliminated.

19. picking always takes place from one side but there is a several projectile  return to the picking side by the conveyor belt .

20. Projectile  run on steel guide does not touch to the warp threads .

21. Reed is reciprocated as a shuttle Loom but rocked  about it axis  by the pair of cams.

22. Reed and projectile guide stationary during  picking insertion .

23. Sley dwell is at 250 degree Celsius does it back side.

24. There is a small shed opening because of the smaller spare of Projectile .

25. The speed of the projectile weft instertion 900-1500 mpm.

26. Colour changing mechanism less complicated.

27. In case of weft breakage taken beam  and heald frame   can be driving in reverse by pick  finding mechanism.

Advantages of projectile weaving machine -
1. Two or three cloth can be woven  simultaneously.

2. Very high efficiency are possible as the number of breaks  are reduced .

3. Breakage rate of work is less because of- 

  a. Smaller warp shed   b. Higher air  to  two wire ratio of reed (17 to 30)
c. Beat up line is  near the centre of the reed.

4. There is no contact projectile with warp .
5. 4 to 6 colour weaving is easy and less complicated.

Repier Weft Insertion system -      The picking or weft  insertion system is based on modified repair principle, two carriers  entering the warp Shed  simultaneously from each side of the l oom and meeting almost half way through the shed. These are two basic type of rapier heads: 1) Loop transfer rapier machine-Gabler Principle ,  2) Tip transfer repair machine -Dewas principle.    In the Gabler system the weft  is never gripped. It is placed in a slot 'A' in the right rapier head and as the rapier advance towards the centre of the Loom, the yarn  passes from its clamped position round the head,  to the supply package in the form of hair pin .When  the head meet at the centre of the loom, the smaller left hand head , enters the yarn  carrying right hand head.
